Nonprofit CFO of the Year Awards joins GWSCPA for 20th Anniversary Symposium
WASHINGTON, DC – The 2008 Nonprofit CFO of the Year Awards Luncheon will be held in conjunction with the 2008 Greater Washington Society of CPAs Not for Profit Symposium, hosted at the Mayflower Hotel on November 18, 2008.
The 2008 GWSCPA Not for Profit Organization Symposium is a two-day event, held November 18th and 19th, 2008. The event offers 16 hours of CPE Credit (with specialization in Tax, Accounting/Auditing and Management topics) and draws 20 to 30 speakers from across the US. This event is celebrating its 20th year in 2008.
“The combining of these two successful events is an ideal opportunity for nonprofit financial professionals in the Washington DC metropolitan area to join forces in promoting best practices,” commented current GWSCPA President Patty O’Malley (Rubino & McGeehin). “GWSCPA is honored and very pleased that the Nonprofit CFO of the Year Awards will be held in conjunction with the NFPO Symposium.”
The 2008 Nonprofit CFO of the Year Awards will be held on the first day of the Symposium. The awards, which mark the third annual luncheon hosted by Tate and Tryon and West, Lane & Schlager, honor financial executives in the Washington, D.C. area for their contributions in leadership, operational excellence, and a commitment to promoting improved accountability and financial reporting practices.
The categories of awards being presented are:
- CFO Lifetime Achievement
- CFO Rising Star
- CFO Innovator of the Year
The event features keynote speaker Lois Lerner, Director of Exempt Organizations in the Tax Exempt and Government Entities division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Lerner will discuss how IRS Exempt Organizations works to promote compliance and to provide customer service in the tax-exempt community. Her comments will focus on various Exempt Organizations projects and how the IRS is reaching out to the taxexempt community and its representatives to ensure that these projects are successful and enhance transparency.
