2006 Event

The 2006 event was held at the Mayflower Hotel, the site of the 2007 event. About 150 nonprofit professionals attended the event which recognized CFOs for the tremendous work they contribute to their organizations.

The awards recognized CFOs that excelled in vision, leadership, transparency, accountability, social responsibility, innovation and strategic financial stewardship.

Brenda Hargett, CFO at the American Petroleum Institute was awarded first place. Hargett’s dedication helped create a forward-thinking financial department that strives to be efficient and effective at the lowest possible cost.

Runners up included Paul Parsons from the National Association of College and University Attorneys and Richard James from the American Institute of Architects.

The speaker, David Lane, advocacy director at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation spoke about the foundation’s growth in the DC area, success found due to recent partnerships and the sense of achievement found after reorganizing their mission.
